Sometimes, my local Toys R’ Us puts new stuff on the shelves days if not weeks after official release. However, they may have learned their lesson with the Simpsons Minifigures as last year they didn’t put them on the shelves for the longest time, and then they had trouble selling them (I know I got mine elsewhere for the most part, when I usually buy most of my Lego there). Indeed, yesterday, as I happened to have my lunch break near the store, I stopped by for a few minutes and the Simpsons Minifigures Series 2 were there!
As I had only a few minutes, I just picked three bags, felt them to make sure they’d be minifigures I’d want, paid and left. Usually, when I want all or most of the series, the first time I buy some, I just feel to make sure I don’t get the same twice, but that’s pretty much it. This time I don’t really want the whole series, just a few characters (at least, I don’t want the Simpson family again – even if I may make an exception for Bartman), so I made sure I got some characters I want.
So I picked Professor Frink, Groundskeeper Willie and Patty Bouvier. Or so I thought:
Oh no! How could I confuse Groundskeeper Willie (especially right after I had just found him) with Patty Bouvier?!?
Not getting the minifigure you want is part of the thing, but getting a double, on the first batch, after feeling them, is quite enraging.
I guess I’ve learned my lesson too: I’ll wait for the feel-through guides to pop up on the web before buying the other ones.
Thankfully, just a few days prior I had made a few interesting finds on Bricklink that make up for that:
